Childsplay Arizona – Tempe, AZ

This co-production between Speeltheater Holland and Childsplay Arizona has had a successful tour in the Netherlands in 2010-2011 and will now be presented at the home stage of Childsplay Arizona.

The adventures of Ollie and Yuki bring together two complete opposites in this hysterical confrontation of old versus new. Their two worlds collide, as Yuki’s high-voltage antics disturb the quiet creations Ollie makes with only paper and scissors. After the original play took Arizona by storm, this innovative piece made the transatlantic trip to The Netherlands. Now, this renewed version makes its way back to the States.

Speeltheater Holland is a non profit touring theatre company in The Netherlands, based in Edam, about 25 km above Amsterdam. Founded in 1976, the company has performed theatre for children for over thirty-five years, under the inspiring leadership of Onny Huisink and Saskia Janse. Their performances range in size from plays using one to three actors as well as larger‑scale productions. Speeltheater Holland makes theatre for children from all ages and sometimes for adults. The productions include the use of puppets combined with acting and other theatrical disciplines. Different (puppet) techniques and other theatrical means are used for each production, but the visual element plays a prominent part in all performances.
