‘Shake A Wave “is the title of the new album by Amsterdam rock band Go Back To The Zoo. Since their debut album ‘Benny Blisto’ appeared in 2010, much has happened with the band: Lowlands, Pinkpop, Sziget, SXSW and sold out club tours followed and eventually the crown with a gold record.
Following the overwhelming success GBTTZ year was that it was time to go to get away from the Netherlands. Rather than slow down, they decided to work together in a house to live for all their time to devote to music.
After the fall of 2010 already in a chalet in rainy Normandy songs were written quickly made the choice to go to Berlin. GBTTZ had played there many times and the atmosphere of the city spoke to them. With a pocket full of songs and ideas the boys went to Germany. In a vacant post office was working hard on new songs. Producers and Dennis van Leeuwen JB Meijers came along and occasionally there was a lot of ‘talk’ in the pub bar ’8 mm ‘.
In Berlin, worked hard and planed to a litany of numbers. Eventually there were about 12 songs that were recorded at ICP studios in Brussels. The band was partly influenced by (the coast) Normandy (the metropolitan of) Berlin (their friends) and Amsterdam (the unlimited possibilities of the studio) Brussels. Musically played guitar from the ’90s to include The Pixies, Dandy Warhols and Primal Scream a major role. But the Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Lou Reed were sources of inspiration.
The texts on this second album are layered, the music louder. “Shake A Wave” is an album full of bravado, dynamics and guitars. The first single ‘What if’ is the title song of the action comedy ‘Black Out’ and was in the first week of 2012 on 3FM megahit.
‘Shake A Wave’, the second album by Go Back To The Zoo appear on 6 April 2012.
