Dutch stand-up comedian Micha Wertheim performs at The Netherland Club of New York

At the end of May Dutch stand-up comedian Micha Wertheim will return to New York to perform at The Netherland Club of New York.

After finishing his MA in Cultural Sciences Micha Wertheim moved to Amsterdam and started working as a freelance radio producer, writer and comedian. He became a member of the Amsterdam based Dutch comedy collective Comedytrain in 1998. Playing regularly in Amsterdam comedy theatre Toomler he developed rapidly, and soon after won first price in the prestigious ‘’Leids Cabaret Festival’’ (Comedy Festival in the Dutch town of Leiden). This award resulted in his first one man show in 2005 that was received well and, like al his following shows was broadcasted on Dutch National television. Off stage Wertheim writes a weekly satire for Vrij Nederland magazine.

Netherlands-based Hungarian director Edit Kaldor is recognized internationally as a unique voice in the contemporary theater landscape for her work that mixes documentary and fictional elements, including One Hour (2012), WORK (2011), Point Blank (2007). In her work she mixes documentary and fictional elements and often works with nonprofessional actors. Her performances tend to integrate the use of various digital media in a sophisticated but straightforward way.

33 ⅓ collective is a collaboration of Dutch artists Douwe Dijkstra, Jules van Hulst and Coen Huisman. In the form of multimedia environments and performances they create images, atmospheres and theatrical scenes. Their approach is to visualize virtual, multilayered and mysterious spaces that change constantly, primarily using projections to tell their story.
PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/Now is a new annual festival of visionary opera-theatre and music-theatre works by pioneering artists from New York and around the world. “Bluebeard” will make its North American Premiere as Prototype’s first international work.
