Dancer PETRA VAN NOORT a native of The Netherlands, is performing at the Brooklyn Academy of Music with Tiffany Mills Dance Company.  Petra,who is living in NYC, studied at Dansacademie Brabant and Rotterdam Dance Academy.  She first came to New York with a VSB grant.   In the Netherlands she danced amongst others with Wies Merkx and Herman van  Veen. » Read more «

During the Brooklyn Film Festival the Dutch movie Black Out of director Arne Toonen will be screened. The theme of this year’s competitive festival is Magnetic and will run from May 31 through June 9 in Williamsburg at indieScreen and at Windmill Studios NYC. The festival will present over 100 films from 24 different countries.

Dutch dancer and choreographer Marlieke Burghouts is currently studying in New York at Dance New Amsterdam. She will start her Masters in Choreography at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, UK this fall. Before leaving New York, she presents Plural Bodies with guest choreographer Kate Ladenheim at the Center for Performance Research in Brooklyn.

Renowned Dutch filmmaker and cinematographer Leonard Retel Helmrich is the first two-time winner of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) as well as the winner of Sundance’s World Cinema Documentary Grand Jury Prize, amongst many other awards. He will join Union Docs on Saturday to present his controversial 2006 documentary Promised Paradise, which asks the following questions: How can one believe that terrorism leads to heaven? Banned by the Indonesian government, this provocative documentary examines the psychology of extremism in a country with the largest Muslim population in the world. » Read more «

At the end of May Dutch stand-up comedian Micha Wertheim will return to New York to perform at The Netherland Club of New York.

After finishing his MA in Cultural Sciences Micha Wertheim moved to Amsterdam and started working as a freelance radio producer, writer and comedian. He became a member of the Amsterdam based Dutch comedy collective Comedytrain in 1998. Playing regularly in Amsterdam comedy theatre Toomler he developed rapidly, and soon after won first price in the prestigious ‘’Leids Cabaret Festival’’ (Comedy Festival in the Dutch town of Leiden). This award resulted in his first one man show in 2005 that was received well and, like al his following shows was broadcasted on Dutch National television. Off stage Wertheim writes a weekly satire for Vrij Nederland magazine.
